my spring 2025 favorites for your listening pleasure :)

this spring, soothe your post-winter woes with some light and easy listening. here are my picks for April showers, May flowers, and everything in between, in no particular order.

you can save and listen to this playlist on Spotify here:

Bleed- Malcolm Todd & Omar Apollo

Malcolm Todd may be known for "Chest Pain (I Love)" on TikTok, but i prefer this tune. Todd & Apollo bring the funk and their voices melt together in a way that simply scratches your brain right.

So Good- Omar Apollo

speaking of Omar Apollo, his solo work is just as good as his features. a personal favorite of mine is "So Good", which is, frankly, SO good. Apollo mixes R&B, soul, and a bit of funk in this upbeat track.

Paranoia- The MarĆas

though i am a newer fan of The MarĆas, i think we can all agree that anyone can recognize a good song regardless of their level of fanhood. within 30 seconds of listening to this melody, i had already added it to my library as well as numerous playlists. i will definitely be listening to more in the future.

Simulation Swarm- Big Thief

while this song is apparently trending on TikTok, i actually had no idea it was a "TikTok song". after this tune was recommended to me by a friend, i gave it a listen and deemed it a spring staple. light & airy acoustic guitar and delicate vocals (similar to that of The MarĆas') soothe your ears, making this song perfect for a walk in the park or to unwind at the end of your day.

Softly- Clairo

"Softly" is an old personal favorite of mine off of what i consider to be a criminally underrated album, "Immunity", by Clairo. this song in particular has always sounded like spring to me, Clairo's soft (no pun intended) voice comparable to that of an angel from heaven (at least that's how I imagine they would sound). i think love songs in particular are a great way to welcome spring.

Honey- Troye Sivan

speaking of underrated! Troye Sivan’s ā€œHoneyā€ has an energetic and upbeat vibe, featuring a sweet, nostalgic sound that recaptures the essence of his Blue Neighborhood era. the track adds to another seriously underrated album, Troye’s house-inspired "Something To Give Each Other".

Calling After Me- Wallows

Dylan Minnette, i was not familiar with your game. before I heard this song, i was a bit turned off by Wallows. while love their aesthetic, i'm not a huge fan of the slower songs. however, this smooth, introspective track blends indie rock with instrumentals equally dreamy as they are catchy. yet, lyrically, it's both soothing and reflective, perfect for moments of introspection while the seasons change. you can't help but love it!

Some- Steve Lacy

this song will always be on my playlist. aeleased in 2017, "Some" is arguably amongst some of Steve Lacy's best work (see what I did there?) a smooth, sultry R&B track with a laid-back groove, blending soulful melodies with a mix of funky guitar riffs and mellow beats. the song’s sensual vibe is defined by a jazzy, minimalist arrangement, giving it a dreamy, almost intimate quality. it’s effortlessly cool and emotionally honest, capturing that blend of passion and vulnerability that’s become a hallmark of Lacy's style. i especially enjoy listening while painting, drawing, or writing.

Ophelia- PinkPantheress

i'm such a big fan of PinkPantheress. i don't think there's a single song of hers i dislike. therefore, it's no surprise that "Ophelia" is in my rotation this spring. "Ophelia" combines ethereal melodies with Pink's signature blend of soft, almost whispery vocals layered over a mix of electronic beats and lo-fi instrumentation. drawing inspiration from the tragic figure of Ophelia in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the track has a haunting yet upbeat feel, with a sense of longing and introspection. it’s a perfect mix of nostalgic 90's-inspired sounds and modern sensibilities, all wrapped up in PinkPantheress' distinctive style.

tune in quarterly for what each season sounds like to me! happy listening!
